Dan Wheldon Dies at 33

Dan Wheldon, the British Indy League driver, has passed away, according to USA Today.

The 33-year-old was racing at the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada, when his car crashed in a huge fifteen car accident.

Dan was sponsored by William Rast, Justin Timberlake‘s clothing line.

“IndyCar is very sad to announce that Dan Wheldon has passed away from unsurvivable injuries,” IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today. IndyCar, its drivers and owners, have decided to end the race,” Randy concluded.
