Prince William & Duchess Kate Middleton Honor Shout's Crisis Volunteers
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) greet some representatives outside of Shout’s Crisis Volunteer celebration event at Troubadour White City Theatre on Tuesday (November 12) in London, England.
If you don’t know, Shout is “UK’s first 24/7 text service, free on all major mobile networks, for anyone in crisis anytime, anywhere. It’s a place to go if you’re struggling to cope and you need immediate help.”
If a user texts Shout, they will be connected to a trained Shout crisis volunteer. The volunteers use “empathetic and effective active listening techniques, establish goals and use collaborative problem solving to move our Texters from a hot moment, to a cool calm, until the Texter feels calm and safe.”
This event put the spotlight on the volunteers who provide this support to texters.
The Cambridges aren’t the only royal couple actively working to end mental health stigma and provide help to those in need.
FYI: The Duchess is wearing a Smythe jacket and Joseph pants.
