The 2019 AMAs airs tonight (November 24) on ABC, and we’re taking a look back at the famous awards show ceremony from 2009 – 10 years ago!
Things looked a lot different at the American Music Awards back in 2009, from the presenters to the performers to the red carpet outfits.
The late Whitney Houston was in attendance to accept the International Artist Award, while Janet Jackson opened the show with a major career retrospective medley.
The show also featured some major shock value at the time, from Lady Gaga‘s fiery rendition of “Bad Romance” into “Speechless” to Adam Lambert‘s same-sex kiss with “For Your Entertainment.” Plus, Taylor Swift won Artist of the Year!
