We’re not even a full month into 2024, and we’ve already gotten so much new music!

We’ve been diving into new bops and bangers, but we’ve also been celebrating special anniversaries for some of our favorite hits from yesteryear.

For example, Ariana Grande‘s “7 rings” turns 5, Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off” debuted 10 years ago, Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance” will be 15, Usher‘s “Yeah” is almost old enough to drink and Christina Aguilera‘s “Genie in a Bottle” is celebrating its 25th birthday!

That’s barely scratching the surface, too. With the new year so close, we dug through the archives and pulled together 50 songs that have special birthdays in 2024.

2024 is right around the corner, and so much new music is expected in the coming 12 months.

The new year is also going to be a special one for a multitude of songs that are celebrating special anniversaries.

For example, Ariana Grande‘s “7 rings” turns 5, Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off” debuted 10 years ago, Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance” will be 15, Usher‘s “Yeah” is almost old enough to drink and Christina Aguilera‘s “Genie in a Bottle” is celebrating its 25th birthday!

Lindsay Lohan and seven other celebs were charged as part of an alleged “crypto scam.”

The stars were hit with “with Securities and Exchange Commission charges for violating securities laws in touting crypto currencies,” according to Variety.

The celebs were all connected to crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun and three of his companies: Tron Foundation Limited, BitTorrent Foundation Ltd., and Rainberry Inc. They were charged for touting crypto on social media and not disclosing that they were compensated.

“This case demonstrates again the high risk investors face when crypto asset securities are offered and sold without proper disclosure,” said SEC chair Gary Gensler. “As alleged, Sun and his companies not only targeted U.S. investors in their unregistered offers and sales, generating millions in illegal proceeds at the expense of investors, but they also coordinated wash trading on an unregistered trading platform to create the misleading appearance of active trading in TRX. Sun further induced investors to purchase TRX and BTT by orchestrating a promotional campaign in which he and his celebrity promoters hid the fact that the celebrities were paid for their tweets.”

Six of the celebs have reached settlements with the SEC that include “more than $400,000 in disgorgement, interest, and penalties to settle the charges, without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings.”

Kanye West‘s horrible, antisemitic statements have been condemned by many, but he still has Akon in his corner.

The 45-year-old “Monster” musician went as far as to praise Hitler, express love for Nazis and question the Holocaust during an interview with Alex Jones earlier this week. He was suspended from Twitter after sharing yet another antisemitic post.

However, Akon revealed that he still supported Kanye during a recent interview.

Akon is moving forward with plans to build a “real-life Wakanda.”

The 47-year-old entertainer announced on Monday (August 31) that construction on his $6 billion project will begin in Senegal, Africa, comparing it the technologically advanced fictional African place portrayed in Black Panther.

Akon said that he hopes the project, named Akon City, will provide much-needed jobs for the Senegalese and will also serve as a “home back home” for Black Americans and others facing racial injustices.

“The system back home treats them unfairly in so many different ways that you can never imagine. And they only go through it because they feel that there is no other way,” Akon said in a statement via THR. “So if you’re coming from America or Europe or elsewhere in the diaspora and you feel that you want to visit Africa, we want Senegal to be your first stop.”

Akon was born in the United States to Senegalese parents, spending a lot of his time in the West African country.

Akon City will include its own hotel, a seaside resort, a tech hub, recording studios and an area named “Senewood” to help develop a Senegal film industry. Akon also revealed that structures will be made with metal and glass, instead of wood.

Plans eventually call for Akon City to have its own hospital, police station, and even its own cryptocurrency already named AKoin.

Akon said that the Akon City has already secured about one-third of the $6 billion needed. Construction is planned to begin next year, but the first phase of the project could take more than three years to complete.

And the award for most outfit changes at the 2019 MTV EMAs goes to… Halsey!

The 25-year-old “Without Me” singer slayed in FIVE different outfits – putting her new red locks on display – at the event held at FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre on Sunday (November 3) in Seville, Spain.

Halsey took home the awards for Best Pop and Best Look, and she gave a magical performance of “Graveyard.” Get a closer look at all of her outfits in our gallery!

She was joined by Best Brazilian Act winner Pabllo Vittar, Best Rock winners Green Day, Rock Icon recipient Liam Gallagher, and musicians Akon, Abraham Mateo, El Guincho, The 1975, and The Struts.

Also in attendance were Brooklyn Nine‑Nine‘s Terry Crews, his wife Rebecca King-Crews, actress Paz Vega, model Leomie Anderson, soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, his model girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, and journalist Sway Calloway.

Tim Tebow and fiancee Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters kick off the weekend at Shaq’s Funhouse at Live! At the Battery on Friday night (February 1) in Atlanta, Ga.

The newly engaged couple joined host Shaquille O’Neal, Phaedra Parks, Akon, Sharna Burgess, and performers Migos and Lil Jon at the Super Bowl Weekend event.

The fun night also featured carnival attractions, a once-in-a-lifetime performance from Mystère by Cirque Du Soleil, interactive circus performers.
