Brandy is the latest star to be added to the cast of ABC’s pilot, Queens.

According to Deadline, the 42-year-old musician will star opposite Eve and Naturi Naughton in the series about four estranged and out-of-touch women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had as the Nasty Bitches – their ’90s group that made them legends in the hip-hop world.

Brandy is set to portray Naomi, who was better known as Xplicit Lyrics, the highly skilled musical engine of the Nasty Bitches. A true artist with boundless musical talent — Naomi was certain she’d go on to mainstream success after the group’s demise, but she hasn’t.

The character description adds that Naomi is now “singing and playing her guitar in crappy dive bars where all people want is her old persona.”

When the group gets back together, Naomi is reunited with the only man she ever loved, and the rival bandmate who stole that man from her. But what Naomi wants more than anything is to build a relationship with the daughter she was never really there for — if she only knew how.

As part of the series, Brandy will record and perform original songs for it, as her character.

Gabrielle Union responded to one Instagram user who confused her for singer Brandy Norwood.

It all started when Fenty Beauty posted a photo of Gabrielle on their Instagram page.

Then, one Instagram user commented on the photo, “Brandy!!!! I love her.”

Well, Gabrielle saw the comment and wrote a message back.

“Girl I <3 @4everbrandy toooooooooo! I, however, am Gabrielle Union Wade and I hope you are never a witness to any crime [because] your eye witness testimony is a problem,” Gabrielle posted in response. She also included the eye roll emoji and the thinking emoji.

Brandy has sounded off on negativity online on her Vibe.com blog – and asked people to think twice before they pass judgment.

“I’m a very strong person, but some of those things that people say about me on blogs make me cry. I don’t like it. And what’s so frustrating is that I don’t get a chance to retaliate. Because y’all are not posting y’all pictures on the blogs,” Brandy wrote. “I can’t respond and I can’t be negative back because that’s just not me.”

“Sometimes we don’t read the comments because of what we’ve seen people say in the past about us. Okay, you don’t like my shoes, you don’t like my outfit, cool, but the rest of it, like bringing up the car accident?” FYI: Back in 2006, Brandy was involved in a car accident in L.A. where there was a fatality, but she was not charged in the incident.

“It affects us….It really does. We’re people at the end of the day with feelings. You know we’re sensitive because we’re artists. You know that stuff is going to hurt sometimes,” Brandy concluded.

Brandy is opening up about her love life and her relationship with rapper Flo Rida.

The 31-year-old singer tells Vibe, “It doesn’t matter how we met. We met. I don’t want to say that we’re a couple. I can definitely say that he’s somebody in my life and I’m definitely interested but I’m not serious with anybody. I’m a little bit afraid to give my heart away right now. It’s very scary. I’m open to it, but I just want to make sure that I’m taking my time.”

Brandy Norwood and singer-actor Tyrese Gibson chum around at Westfield mall in Century City, Calif, on Sunday (November 16).

“They seemed very close,” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. “You could tell they were very much used to each other’s company. It looked like much more than a friendly relationship.”

But Brandy and Tyrese (both 29) are taking things slow.

“She’s obviously looking for love,” says an insider. “But are they 100 percent dating? Not yet. Are they two very successful, gorgeous people who are hanging out a lot? Yes. You do the math.”

Brandy‘s new album, Human, drops on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

UPDATE: Tyrese tells Us Weekly: “Brandy and I have been the best of friends since we were 14 years old. She’s one of the most talented friends I have. I would never date her – it would be like dating my sister. It was a simple lunch amongst friends. I love her like family but the rumors of us dating are really old.”
