Mike Posner & Blackbear Explain the Ariana Grande Reference in Their New Song '... The Green Spangled Banner'

Blackbear and Mike Posner are explaining the meaning behind the Ariana Grande reference in their new song, “… The Green Spangled Banner.”

The musicians recently teamed up to release their second album together, Mansionz 2. (Their first album, released back in 2017, was just called Mansionz.)

The opening track, which has the Ariana reference, sets the tone for an intentionally chaotic and experimental project.

The duo explained their reasoning behind that lyric during a Thursday (November 2) interview on The Zach Sang Show.

'Please Don't Go' Singer Mike Posner Goes Shirtless, Flexes His Muscles for PETA Ad

Mike Posner is putting his fit physique on display for PETA!

The 35-year-old “Please Don’t Go” and “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” singer is “powered by sprouts” in the new ad campaign.

“The really empowering thing about sprouts is the ability for a caveman like me, a 35-year-old bachelor who flies around and has a busy life, to grow my own food. If I can do this, anyone can do it,” Mike said in a statement. “There’s a lot of different reasons to eat vegan, and they’re all good! Just try adding some sprouts to your diet. See how you feel. Let that be your gateway drug, as it has been for me.”

Mike is actually a raw vegan!

The organization said, “Sprouts, like all plant foods, are great for gut health—they’re loaded with fiber, and they contain none of the artery-clogging saturated fat and cholesterol found in meat, eggs, and dairy. In addition to reducing the risk of suffering from heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer, each person who goes vegan saves nearly 200 animals every year and shrinks their carbon footprint.”

Mike Posner Reveals the 'Dumbest' Advice He Was Given While Launching His Music Career - Listen Now!

Mike Posner is opening up about his career and how important being a songwriter is to him.

The 33-year-old “Please Don’t Go” singer is the latest guest on the Spout podcast and he admitted that he would never win any vocal competitions, which is why his songwriting skills are so important to him.

Mike was asked about an interview he previously gave in which he said someone told him he’d be more successful if he let other people do the songwriting for him.

“If I went on American Idol, I’d lose in the first round, you know. No one really listens to me for like my vocal runs or anything like that. I’m a great songwriter, you know. In my opinion, I’m one of the best ones we have right now, but clearly I’m biased, you know, so it was just funny,” Mike said.

He continued, “Yeah, early in my career someone told me don’t write songs, just get hit songs from songwriters and sing them. And it’s like the dumbest thing they could ever say to me because like it’s like the opposite of what I should do. And then you know, years later I write songs for other artists and that kind of thing.”

Mike Posner Is Climbing Mt. Everest in Honor of His Late Father

Mike Posner is taking on a new challenge.

The 33-year-old musician spoke with People about climbing the tallest mountain in the world as a tribute to his father.

In 2019, Mike began a 2,800-mile, 13-state walk across the United States, beginning in Asbury Park, New Jersey with the goal of reaching Venice Beach, California.

During the trek, he was bitten by a rattlesnake and had to be airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

Mike told People the experience, “Obliterated who I thought I was as a human and what I thought I was capable of.”

Realizing he wanted to continue pushing himself, he decided to climb Mt. Everest and started training with Dr. John Kedrowski ahead of attempting to reach the mountain’s summit.

“I’m comfortable with the risks, especially given the work I’ve put in,” Mike said. “My goal is to go over there and have fun. This is like a journey of a lifetime.”

“The thing about risks is we are going to die anyways. We’re all gonna die. My dad is dead. Avicii is dead. Mac Miller‘s dead. One day I’ll be dead,” he explained.

“Hopefully not any time soon,” he added. “But before that happens, I want to live. I want to live my life. So I’m comfortable with the risk after doing the research.”

In honor of his late father, Mike will also be partnering with the Detroit Justice Center and have raised over $175,000 for the organization so far.

“I was just blown away by the work they’re doing. I’m from Detroit and I want to help make it a better place or empower the people that are making it a better place. But simultaneously, I can honor my dad,” he shared.

Mike wrote about his experience walking across America in his song “Slow It Down.” Listen to the track here!
