Ray Donovan now has a premiere date and trailer for its upcoming season six!
The sixth season will premiere on October 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, Showtime announced on Monday (August 6) at the TCA summer press tour.
The 12-episode season is currently in production in New York.
In the new season, Ray (Liev Schreiber) is “rebuilding his life both personally and professionally in New York City. After being rescued from a plummet into the East River, his savior, a cop named Mac (Domenick Lombardozzi), brings Ray into the fraternity that is the Staten Island Police Department. While exploring this new world of brotherhood and corruption, Ray finds himself once again working for media mogul Sam Winslow (Susan Sarandon). Sam has teamed up with New York City mayoral candidate Anita Novak (Lola Glaudini), a partnership that puts Ray at odds with his new friends out in Staten Island.”
Liev Schreiber went above and beyond to star as real-life fighter Chuck Wepner, who fought Muhammad Ali at the peak of his career but then spiraled into a life of alcohol and cocaine, in his latest film.
To make the boxing scenes more realistic in Chuck, the 49-year-old actor decided to do the all the fights himself, and at one point was left with hazy vision after taking 800 punches.
“By the end of the fourth day of shooting, I wasn’t seeing so good, but I think it was worth it,” Liev joked (via NY Daily News). “What really grabbed me about ‘Chuck‘ was the pitfall of celebrity and fame. His was a kind of cautionary tale about the dangers of that particular kind of narcissism – the desire to be loved by the anonymous mob and not the individuals to whom we are truly connected, which is something I think a lot of people can relate to.”

They were joined by Pooch Hall (who plays Muhammad Ali in the film), director Philippe Falardeau, and the real-life Chuck Wepner, whom Liev portrays in the boxing drama.
