Being a fashion designer takes an incredible amount of talent, creativity, patience and knowledge of the fashion industry, and there are plenty of designers who have managed to cultivate brands that are now worth millions – and billions! – of dollars.

Leighton Meester: Jimmy Choo Icons Collection Dinner!

Leighton Meester attends a private dinner hosted by W editor Stefano Tonchi and Jimmy Choo‘s Tamara Mellon at Lehmann Maupin Gallery in NYC.

The 25-year-old Gossip Girl star, who met up with actress Lake Bell, wore a Kaws-designed print blouse from Jason Wu‘s new Spring 2012 collection.

The dinner celebrated the unveiling of Jimmy Choo‘s Icons – a capsule collection of shoes inspired by creations from the fashion house’s archives – as well as images shot by photographer Nan Goldin for Icons.

Later in the evening, Leighton stopped by the launch of Dom Perignon Luminous, where Swizz Beatz stepped inside the DJ booth to spin some tunes.

Thandie Newton - MET Ball 2011

Thandie Newton arrives in style at the MET Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 2) in New York City.

The 38-year-old British actress, who wore a Stella McCartney dress, walked the red carpet with Jimmy Choo Chief Creative Officer Tamara Mellon.

Thandie and Tamara both wore Solange Azagury-Partridge jewelry. Thandie also accessorized with Jimmy Choo “Louisa” platform sandals from the Choo 24:7 Collection and the fashion house’s “Mini Tube” clutch.

The Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrates the opening of the “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” exhibition, featuring the late designer’s iconic work.
