Anna Paquin Reacts To 'True Blood' Reboot News

Anna Paquin is speaking out following the news that True Blood is being rebooted.

The 38-year-old actress starred as Sookie in the popular HBO series with husband Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Deborah Ann Woll, Joe Manganiello, Rutina Wesley, Denis O’Hare and more.

Anna even won a Golden Globe in 2009 for her role as Sookie.

The news about the reboot was announced earlier this week, with Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa bring it back to life as a true horror show.

While no details have emerged about the plot, the original show revolved around Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress who she falls in love with 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton.

It looks like Anna was just as surprised at the news as most fans were, as was Denis.

The author of the book series, Charlaine Harris, also responded to the reports of a reboot.

Sources are telling Variety that Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Jami O’Brien will write the script and executive produce and the original show’s creator Alan Ball will executive produce.

The show debuted on HBO in 2008 and starred Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Manganiello, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, and Rutina Wesley. Unfortunately, at this time, none of the original cast is set to return at this time. We hope that changes!

The show ran for seven seasons on HBO. So far, there has been no official word from HBO about this news, but stay tuned as we find out more.

This news has unfortunately reminded us of the tragic death of one of the stars of True Blood, Nelsan Ellis. RIP.

'True Blood' Cast Reacts to Death of Nelsan Ellis

The cast of the beloved series True Blood is speaking out to remember their co-star Nelsan Ellis, who sadly died at the age of 39.

Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Joe Manganiello, Sam Trammell, Kristin Bauer van Straten, and Anna Camp were among the first cast members to write tweets paying tribute to the late actor.

Nelsan passed away after complications from heart failure and fans will always remember his groundbreaking performance as Lafayette on the hit HBO series. His character was killed off in the books, but Nelsan‘s amazing performance inspired the writers to keep him alive and he was featured in all 81 episodes.

'True Blood' Creator Alan Ball Pays Tribute to Late Nelsan Ellis

Alan Ball, the creator of the beloved HBO series True Blood, is speaking out to remember the late actor Nelsan Ellis.

The actor passed away at the age of 39 after complications with heart failure.

Nelsan was a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me. Working with him was a privilege,” Alan said in a statement (via THR).

HBO also released a statement to pay tribute to the show’s star.

“We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Nelsan Ellis,” HBO said in a statement. “Nelsan was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of True Blood. Nelsan will be dearly missed by his fans and all of us at HBO.”
