Vanessa Hudgens made her first appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Friday. They showed a clip of a 9-year-old Vanessa performing as Cindy Lou at a local production of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” in San Diego, Calif.

Adorable, no?

The 19-year-old High School Musical star also talked about her very first role in theater: “I auditioned for the Hunchback of Notre Dame and I wanted to be Esmeralda because that’s the girl part. I thought I could get it. But I actually got Quasimodo, the hunchback. So, I walked around with the hunchback and the crazy makeup.”

When asked if she had strict parents, Vanessa shared, “They weren’t that bad. They supported me and let me do acting. I must admit, I did get my mouth washed out with soap once. I actually, still to this day, don’t know why. I must have did something really wrong. I was 4-years-old, I don’t even know I said wrong… I honestly don’t really remember the taste.”

“It’s strange,” Zac says of the ever-present paparazzi. “Every day is a crazy adventure. We do some pretty kooky things to avoid them. It’s like The Bourne Identity. I’m starting to learn the ways of the ninja.”

In related news, Radio Disney will world premiere the soundtrack from High School Musical 3: Senior Year next Saturday, October 18 @ 7PM ET/4PM PT during Radio Disney’s Planet Premiere. The soundtrack will be replayed on Sunday, October 19 1PM ET/10AM PT and officially released in stores on Tuesday, October 21.

High School Musical stars, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and Corbin Bleu arrive a bit tired at the Radio 1 studios in London, England amidst fans seeking autographs and pictures on Wednesday.

Vanessa Hudgens attends the press junket for the upcoming feature film High School Musical 3: Senior Year at the Dorchester on Wednesday in London, England. The 19-year-old singer/actress kept it pretty in a Ports 1961 dress and Jimmy Choo “Edalene” shoes.

Yesterday, Vanessa told People that she was stumped on boyfriend Zac Efron’s birthday gift. She laughed, “I don’t know [what to get] yet. But I guess I have to think of something quick!”

Zac, who turns 21 next Saturday, says he’ll be keeping his birthday celebration low-key: “I am sure I will be celebrating with some family and close friends – nothing extravagant. I am going to stay in.”

Vanessa, 19, went edgy with a leather Catherine Maladrino jacket over her flirty Simone dress. She finished off her look with Jimmy Choo “Gem” black glossy pumps and a Rene Caovilla clutch.

Of course, V stayed on the arm of on-and-off-screen boyfriend Zac Efron throughout most of the premiere. <3

The foursome, along with director Kenny Ortega, are on a worldwide tour promoting their upcoming blockbuster film, High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
