Jon Stewart Staying on ‘The Daily Show’ Through 2028, Hosting Schedule Confirmed

Jon Stewart is staying on The Daily Show for another two years!
The 63-year-old comedian and late-night host has signed a new extension that will keep him on the Comedy Central series through December 2028.
The news was announced by Skydance Television on Monday (October 19), confirming Jon will continue hosting the show every Monday and serving as an executive producer.
The extension comes as his previous agreement was set to expire at the end of 2026.
Who Else Is Hosting The Daily Show Through 2028?
Jon will continue his current Monday night hosting schedule, rather than returning to the show five nights a week.
The show’s news team will share hosting duties from Tuesday through Thursday.
That lineup includes Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic, along with Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt.
Jon will also remain an executive producer alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and his longtime manager James “Baby Doll” Dixon.
“Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central,” George Cheeks, Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer of Skydance TV, said in a statement.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award winning news team,” he added.
Jon originally hosted The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015 before returning in February 2024. His return introduced the current schedule, with the comedian hosting on Mondays and the show’s correspondents rotating through the remaining episodes.
His latest agreement also means he will remain with the show through the 2028 presidential election.
The renewal follows a successful year for The Daily Show. According to Comedy Central, the series recorded its strongest third-quarter audience among total viewers in eight years.
The network also reported that the show’s social media channels have generated 1.9 billion views so far in 2026.
