Zooey Deschanel is making her split from rocker Ben Gibbard official.

The 31-year-old New Girl star filed for divorce in L.A. County Superior Court on December 27 citing “irreconcilable differences,” TMZ reports.

According to the court documents, the official date of separation is listed as October 31, just one day before news broke that the couple had called it quits.

Zooey and Ben, 35, the frontman for the band Death Cab for Cutie, wed in 2009.

Zooey Deschanel tied the knot with Ben Gibbard on Saturday (September 19) near Seattle, Wash.

The 29-year-old (500) Days of Summer actress and 33-year-old Death Cab for Cutie frontman (and The Postal Service singer) dated for nearly a year before getting engaged in December 2008, according to Us Weekly.

Death Cab’s newest single, “Meet Me on the Equinox,” will be featured on the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, out Oct. 20.

Earlier today, we reported that Yes Man actress Zooey Deschanel got engaged earlier this month.

That part is 100% true, but not to AFI bass guitarist Hunter Burgan.

A source close to the couple tells JustJared.com that Zooey, 28, is happily engaged to Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service.

Reps for the couple would not comment on their personal lives.
