Kelly Preston has posted a sweet tribute to her late son Jett on social media.

The 56-year-old actress shared a photo of her and husband John Travolta snuggling up in bed with Jett, who died unexpectedly when he was 16.

“To my sweet love, Jett… you are in our hearts forever. I send love to all of the beautiful autistic children and the wonderful people who love them. May we all shine and grant love and respect to children with special needs💕 #autismawareness #autism,” Kelly captioned the sweet photo. You can see the picture now on her Instagram.

Jett, who was diagnosed with Kawasaki Syndrome at age two, died in January 2009 after he hit his head on a bathtub and suffered a seizure. The family was on vacation in the Bahamas at the time.

John, 55, and Kelly, 47, who also star in the movie, are making their first public appearance from relative seclusion since their son Jett‘s death. They showed their support for Ella who makes her acting debut in the comedy about two business partners placed in the care of 7-year-old twins.

In a recent interview, John shared with USA Today how the family is coping.

“We’ve been working very hard every day as a family to heal,” John said. “We have our own way of doing it, and it has been helping.”

“We decided it was OK to come out and promote, to introduce [Ella] to the world and to give her a beautiful future in film,” John continued at a round table discussion. 20+ pictures inside…

John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have released joint statements on their official sites about their the tragic death of their 16-year-old son Jett.

Here’s what John, 54, Kelly, 46, and their daughter Ella, 8, had to say via KellyPreston.com and Travolta.com:

“We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered.”

The statement continues, “We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us a hope for a brighter future. With love, John, Kelly, and Ella.”

Jett died Friday while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Our heart goes out to the Travoltas and their loved ones.

Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta has died after suffering a seizure at his family’s vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island.

Travolta‘s attorney, Michael Ossi, tells Reuters that attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene.

Access reports Jett fell and hit his head on a bathtub at the hotel. TMZ reports Jett was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital.

Travolta, 54, wife Kelly Preston, 46, and their family had been vacationing in the Bahamas. Travolta and Preston also have a daughter, Ella, 8.

Travolta has said Jett suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome (a condition that leads to heart disease in rare cases). Preston has also said Jett suffered from asthma and blamed household cleaners, fertilizers and pesticides for sparking the condition. According to People, she credited a detoxification program based on the writings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard with helping to improve Jett‘s health.
